RM0120FX 1U Basic System Installation Tutorial |
|
10- (Optional
Accessory) PCI riser kit installation Remove the filler panel on the back of the
chassis to make room for the PCI rear slot bracket. Keep
the removed screws for procedure 11. |
|
11- Using the same screws from
procedure 10, orient the rear slot bracket as shown in the picture. Fasten the rear slot bracket onto the chassis
with the two screws. |
|
12- Motherboard pre-mounting
check Before mounting the motherboard onto the chassis, count the mounting
holes on the motherboard and note their location. Compare these holes with the mounting points on the chassis. If
the motherboard’s mounting holes match all of the mounting points that
are covered by the motherboard on the chassis, then you are ready to
mount the motherboard. If there is an extra mounting point on the chassis
underneath the motherboard, you must cover the mounting point with
electrical tape or a pad of certified non-conductive material. If you skip this step you will short-circuit your motherboard
when it comes in contact with the chassis. The default I/O
shield with the RM0120FX chassis is I/O shield #14. If you requested a different I/O shield when
ordering, please install that shield now. |
|
13- Mounting the motherboard Insert the motherboard into the I/O shield and gently align the motherboard to the chassis. Fasten the motherboard to the chassis loosely with the screws that is provided by the motherboard manufacturer. The motherboard in this demonstration has six mounting holes. When the motherboard is properly aligned, tighten the screws starting from the center and work your way to out. This will ensure the best fit and help prevent micro-fracture within the motherboard. If the motherboard is curved from poor quality standards, you may want to consider placing plastic spacers in the appropriate mounting points to prevent further bending when mounting. |
|
14- (Optional accessory) PCI card installation If you have the optional PCI kit and want to install a PCI card at this
time, begin by inserting the PCI riser card into the PCI slot that
aligns with the rear slot bracket. |
|
15- Insert the PCI card into
the riser card with the PCI faceplate inserted into the rear slot bracket. |
|
16- Using the hole on the side
of the chassis, secure the PCI card by fastening the card down with
a screw. |
|
17- Chassis cabling Connect the chassis exhaust blower’s power cable to the special lead
provided by the power supply. |
|
18- (Optional accessory) If you have a backplane accessory or the
retail pack, then you will need to connect the included accessory Y
split power cable to one of the power leads. |
|
19- Unwrap the wiring for the
front LEDs. In the picture,
the pair of green wires is the power switch. The
three wires on the left are for the LED display. If you are only deploying one hard drive,
we recommend using the top red LED for hard drive activity. |
|
20- Connect
the power switch and LED display cables to the motherboard by following
the layout diagram in the motherboard manual. |
